What is AnimalAttraction.com?
AnimalAttraction.com is THE PLACE FOR PET LOVERS. It is an online community in which people with a strong common interest in, and love for, pets can create profiles for themselves, AND their pets, and connect with each other via email, instant messaging, chat rooms and message boards. Our site also provides pet care tips and lots of other pet-related information and entertainment to help keep pets, and pet parents, safe and happy!

How is it different from other online communities?
First and foremost, AnimalAttraction.com is for pet lovers. AnimalAttraction.com is the only community that has members post profiles not only about themselves, but also about their pets. To quote one of our members: “ I really love this site. I love being with people who totally understand how it feels to love animal and be loved by one. I have friends who think I’m crazy for being so attached and committed to my pets, but here, everyone understands!”

Do I have to own a pet to join?
Absolutely not. All Pet LOVERS are welcome on AnimalAttraction.com.

How much does it cost?
AnimalAttraction.com is completely FREE for all members.

Managing Your Account

How do I add to or edit my profile?
Simply log-in and use the MyProfile link in the tool box to see how your profile appears to others. To add to or edit your profile, use the Edit buttons from your MyProfile page.

How do I change my email address?
To change your email address, follow the simply steps below:

  1. Log in with your username and password
  2. Click on My Account Settings in the toolbox on the left-hand side of the page
  3. Click on the Edit button in the Profile Settings section
  4. Make and save your changes.

How do I manage the emails I receive from AnimalAttraction?
AnimalAttraction.com sends out a newsletter and information about the site we feel is interesting and useful to our users. Additionally, you will receive email notification when action is taken on your profile such as another member sending you and email, Pet Pal Invite or a Scratch Pad note.

You can change your email notifications under the My Account Settings link. Follow the steps above and edit Message Settings.

How do I hide my account?
Sometimes members want to maintain their profile, but temporarily hide it. To hide your profile, log-in and click on the “My Account Settings” link. Click on the Edit button in the Profile Settings section, and change your profile status from “Active” to “Inactive.”

How do I delete my account?
We will soon have a tool that will allow members to permanently delete their own accounts. For now, please email customercare@animalattraction.com if you would like to delete your account.

How do I post a photo or video?
When you’re logged in to the site, use the links on the left hand side to post photos and videos. Simply click on My Photos or My Videos and follow the instructions for uploading.

Why do I need to post a photo?
You are not required to post a photo, but come on, be a proud pet parent and post lots of photos! Seeing lots of great photos of people and their pets makes AnimalAttraction.com more fun for everyone, so join in the fun and upload your photos.

Using the Site

How can I tell if I’m logged in?
When you are logged in, you’ll be taken to your My Homepage and see our greeting to you on the upper left-hand corner of the page, under the navigation.

What is My Homepage?
Your Homepage is where you will see a snapshot of all the things you’ve done on the site – from incoming and outgoing emails and Pet Pal invitations to who’s viewed you and who you’ve viewed.

When you first log into yourMy Homepage, you’ll see search results for the newest AnimalAttraction.com members. Use the search box on the page to customize your results and save your search settings for future logins.

What are all the links in the box to the left of My Homepage?
Think of this box (pictured below) as your tool box for AnimalAttraction.com. This is where you’ll come back to again and again to interact with the site. Here’s you’ll find links to your personal homepage, your profile, your message center, account and photos and videos to make site navigation easy.

Contacting Members

How do I find and contact people on the site?
Anyone can use the Quick Member Search tool on the left hand side of every page on the site or the “Search” text link at the top of the site to do member searches. Members can also conduct searches from their “MyHomepage” after logging-in with their username and password.

Using the profile search, you can look for members who are in your area, your age range, who have a particular type of pet or are interested in:

  • Pet Pals
  • Networking
  • Making Friends
  • Dating

How can I get in touch with the people I find interesting?
It’s easy. Every member’s profile has a “Contact” box. The Contact box has links to
  • send an email
  • send instant message if they are online
  • send a Pet Pal Invite and make them your online friend
  • post a note to their scratch pad

What’s in My Messages?
Your Message Center is where you’ll find email you have sent and received as well as incoming Pet Pal invitations. You can manage your communication and reply to any messages and accept any invites you have received. Note: To send a message or a Pet Pal Invite you’ll need to do so directly from the member’s profile.

Check your Message Center often to keep in close contact with fellow AnimalAttraction.com members!

What Is a Pet Pal?
Pet Pals are your online friends. When you browse the site and see members you’d like to connect with, simply send them a Pet Pal Invite from their profile. When they accept, you’ll see their picture on your Pet Pals page as well as part of your profile. By adding members to your Pet Pals, you’ll be able to contact them with ease.

What Is a Scratch Pad?
Your Scratch Pad is like a post-it note for your profile. If you’d like to send a quick, simple message to one of your Pet Pals, simply post to their scratch pad! Note: Scratch Pads are only available between members who are Pet Pals.

Privacy

Is my email address ever shared with anyone?
Absolutely not. Your email address is never visible or shared with other members. You may choose to give your email address to other members on your own if and when you feel comfortable doing so.
